This Proposal is a systemic approach to meeting the sustainable, inclusive housing needs of rapidly urbanizing areas of Latin America/Caribbean.
Our vision is in direct opposition to the prevailing modernist methodology for urbanization in the global south which imposes out-of-scale, concrete towers (foreign objects) on the landscape into which humans are placed – their hopes, dreams, aspirations & energy – now removed from the street and stacked far above the familiar sound of music, smell of food, din of street vendors and greetings from neighbors that validate the essential color, flavor, and pace at the core of life in these regions.
Our work suggests an alternate model for livable inclusive, long – term sustainable urban housing-executed with human dignity – at the scale of the street.
